Mr. A and I decided to go up to Tagaytay last weekend to experience the last remaining days of the cold weather. The temperature was not that low, around 22C but it felt like 20C because of the wind factor; it was also quite foggy. Picture below was taken around 7:30PM.
Since we had a heavy brunch on the way up, we didn’t have lunch anymore. We just checked in to the hotel and rested. We got hungry around 3:30 PM and decided to have merienda in the original branch of Bag of Beans. Mr. A had hot chocolate while I had the refillable kapeng barako. We ordered their Blueberry Cheesecake (Php 160/slice) to share and this did not disappoint. It had a good amount of blueberry on top. We noticed on the 2nd or 3rd bite that the top layer of the cake was not a ‘cheesecake’ but cream. It was not too sweet and perfect with the overall texture of the cake.
Mr. A got interested with their savory pies and ordered the Steak & Mushroom Pie (Php 155). The pie was nice and crunchy/crispy in the outside and soft & yummy in the inside. The beef was not tough and the sauce was flavorful.
On our way in, I saw another table who had pasta and I suddenly craved for pasta. I ordered the Tagliatelle Gamberi (Php 380) but it came out with fettuccine noodles, which I didn’t mind at all. It is an olive oil based pasta with shrimps, garlic, chili, & julienne of peppers. The chili was not overpowering and added just enough bite to the dish. I would have liked the garlic bread to be a bit more toasted, ok lang din kung 2 pieces, hehe.
On our way to Bag of Beans for merienda, I saw Charito by Bag of Beans and got curious. So for breakfast the following day, I asked Mr. A if he was ok to eat here. Since he mostly agrees with my suggestions, he just went along with it. Sobrang nakakatawa kase when we got seated and was handed the menu, it was the exact menu from Bag of Beans, haha! So ang ending namen was eating in BoB the whole weekend. I really thought it was a totally different restaurant from the original. They have a few different dishes plus alcoholic drinks but other than that, same lang din, ngeks. But they do have a nice view and ambiance.
Mr. A ordered the Beef Tapa (Php 310) which was served with garlic rice and 2 eggs. There was a lot of tapa in one order, nakahingi pa ako ng medyo madami hehe. The beef was tender and flavorful. I had the Bacon & Eggs (Php 360) with bread and 2 eggs. I thought it will be served with the usual toasted white bread but was surprised that it was 3 pieces of toasted pandesal (better!).
As a bonus, we ordered their Banana Walnut Pancake (Php 240) since we already had 1 meal each, we weren’t able to finish this and just shared 1 piece; one order has 3 fluffy pancakes.
The restaurant has a nice garden out front and I just took a few pictures after our meal before heading out.
