Potts Point Cafe

Potts Point is a small, densely populated suburb in New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. We actually saw signs with the name when we were in Sydney last year.

Potts Point Cafe in Eastwood Mall is needless to say Aussie-inspired. There’s a nice rustic feel to the cafe and they serve good food and coffee. They boast of serving organic food and they now have a paleo menu; low-carb and gluten free. Don’t be deceived by these words; what they removed in calories are certainly made up for in taste. My husband and I frequent this cafe if we just want to spend some quality time together or if we need a place to pass the time while waiting for our movie. Having a good wifi network is just a plus.

Sharing with you some of their items that we’ve tried:

Strawberry, Kiwi & Mango Trifle with Light Vanilla Custard and Cookie Crumble (Php185) and Flat White (Regular Php130, Large Php145)

I loved the trifle! I just found it too small. The mix of sweet and tangy flavors of the different fruits balances the sweetness of the custard (though it is not too sweet) and I like how the texture of the cookie crumble ties everything together.

English Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream (Php210)

We had quite a few sticky toffee puddings while we were in Australia so we had to order this when we got back. I still think it’s too small (or maybe I just have a big appetite). Their version of the pudding is rich and gooey.

Open-Faced Slow Roast Organic Pork Belly Sandwich with Caramelized Onion and Fried Egg (Php355)

Vietnamese-Style Organic Slow-Roast Pork Belly with Nuoc Cham (dipping sauce) and Pineapple Fried Rice (Php375)

These 2 pork dishes are ok; not too wow for me but they are tasty.

Organic Parmesan Crusted Chicken Schnitzel with Apple-Maple Bread Pudding with Gnocchi and Brown Sauce (Solo Php365; Sharing Php640)

This was good; the chicken was crunchy outside and soft & moist inside. The different textures and flavors worked well: the crunchy chicken, the soft gnocchi, the earthy arugula, the sharp Parmesan.

Admittedly, they are quite overpriced. But given that, we’d still probably go back and try the other food items because they do serve good food.
